About 2048.now

2048.now is a competitive version of the classic 2048 puzzle. It adds ranked boards, seasons, live games, and player progress while keeping the tile rules familiar. This page explains who built the platform, why it exists, and how it relates to the original game. You can also learn who created 2048 or read how to play 2048.

Das kompetitivste 2048 im Internet
2048.now takes Gabriele Cirulli's classic 2048 puzzle and adds everything competitive gaming demands - global leaderboards, ranked seasons, a military rank system, arena mode, daily quests, and a full progression ecosystem. Free to play, free to compete.

From the Original 2048 to This Platform

The short version: 2048 was written by Italian developer Gabriele Cirulli over a weekend in March 2014, released free and open-source, and went viral within days. Because the source was public, hundreds of variants followed, and by the 2020s communities such as r/2048 were tracking personal bests and challenge runs - With no central place to compete. That gap is why 2048.now exists. For the full story, see about 2048: history and origins and who created 2048.

Unitygame builds 2048.now

2048.now was built as a dedicated competitive layer on top of the classic puzzle: a server-authoritative game engine that records every move, three ranked grid sizes, and global leaderboards that separate Classic 4×4, Large 5×5 and Expert 6×6 rather than pooling them into one meaningless list.

Progression on top of the puzzle

A 13-tier military rank ladder from Private to General, trophies across 10 measurable categories, daily and season quests, ticketed Arena matches, and purely cosmetic equipment. Nothing you buy or unlock changes how a board plays.

Today

Live competition

Monthly seasons reset the ladder so newcomers always have a route to the top, a shared Daily Challenge puts the whole world on one board, and real-time multiplayer races two players through identical spawns.
